Witham Town boss Garry Kimble felt the referee prematurely abandoned Wednesday’s game against Burnham Ramblers - leaving his men with a fixture pile-up.

The match was abandoned after 20 minutes, with Town leading 2-0, due to flooding after a heavy downpour.

However, Kimble was disappointed with the decision.

He said: “He (the referee) didn’t even bring the players into the dressing room - he called it off straight away and ten minutes later it was playable.

“We asked him if we could dig the pitch to drain the water away but he said he had called it off and that was it.

“It was really, really poor from the referee”.

The postponement means Witham have four games in six days - something Kimble believes would be too much even for professional players.

“I would be very annoyed to have to play three games in five days to win the league,” he said.

“Not even professionals could do that.”

Witham entertain Enfield 1893 at the Spicer McColl Ground tomorrow and Kimble has major problems at centre-back.

Already without Paul Harris and Bradley Stopher, makeshift centre-back Rob Whitnell limped off with a calf injury against Southend Manor on Saturday.

Kimble wants his men to add to their record-breaking season and has warned them not to take their foot off the gas.

“We have the best squad in the league, we have scored over 100 goals and we have won the league,” he said.

“I just want to be unbeaten to the end of the season.”
