Both Braintree Town and Witham Town have been hit by the return of wintery weather that has caused their respective Saturday afternoon games to be postponed.

Braintree had been due to host Whitehawk in a Vanarama National League South game at the IronmongeryDirect Stadium, while Witham had been set to entertain Romford in Bostik League division north at the Village Glass Stadium.

However, both games have been postponed following pitch inspections on Saturday morning after the wintery blast brought snow across parts of Essex.

Both games will be rearranged for later dates.

Witham had been hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Heybridge Swifts on Thursday and will now prepare for the visit of Norwich United in the league on Tuesday.

Braintree, meanwhile, have to wait until next weekend when they are due to head to play-off rivals Hampton and Richmond Borough.
