BRAINTREE TOWN made a winning start to their National League South campaign after securing a dramatic 3-2 victory at Eastbourne Borough.
However, the Iron had to do it the hard way after fighting back from two-down to claim victory on the Sussex coast.
Yemi Odubade put the hosts ahead and Nathan Pinney doubled Borough’s lead after 20 minutes.
Braintree were staring down the barrel but Scott Shulton halved the deficit just before the half-hour mark, firing home from 20 yards.
Eastbourne were reduced to ten men early in the second half when Kiran Khinda-John was sent for an early bath after hauling down Karl Oliyide.
Phil Roberts then levelled after latching onto a bouncing through ball and lobbing the home keeper before Billy Crook grabbed the winning goal, sparking wild celebrations, to make it 3-2.
