BRAINTREE Town assistant manager Hassan Oktay is confident that the manner of their defeat by Chester won't hit their team's confidence as they continue their Vanarama National League campaign tonight.

The Iron are quickly back in action with a home game against Sutton United (kick-off 7.45pm) when they will be looking to put a disappointing second-half performance against Chester behind them.

Despite holding almost complete dominance for the first 45 minutes of the match, they ended up losing that game 2-1 as they were made to pay for not making more of the scoring chances they created in the first half.

It was a bitter pill to swallow at the final whistle and drew Braintree back to within two points of the relegation places, however, Oktay believes the manner of their downfall won't prey on players' minds.

“I don’t think it will hit the mood of the team," he said.

“We spoke afterwards with the players and they believe in us.

“We feel we can come back strongly.

“Obviously when you lose like this you are going to feel down but we believe we have enough to come back strongly as we have enough quality to do that.

“The Gaffer (Hakan Hayrettin) knows what he’s doing and we can change things.

“Whoever comes to our place won’t have an easy game.

“From the players and the coaching staff, we believe we can come back from this.

“We will come strongly and we look for three points in every game.

“We will work with the players and we’ll come in early on Tuesday so we can give the players the knowledge to come back from this situation.

“We can do that because we have the quality we need here.

“In the first half against Chester, we totally dominated.

“We missed chances to score and we also had chances in the second half, but the difference was that they scored their chances.

“It’s an important lesson for the players, but we trust them and we have enough quality.

“We can change things and you saw that by the way we came back from losing at Dagenham (in the game before) to dominate in the first half against Chester.

“It was a big improvement against a full-time team."

Oktay added that there was a possibility that they may be able to bring in another player to the Braintree squad ahead of the Sutton game.
