Braintree Town know that they could give their fans an early Christmas present with a three-point haul at Boreham Wood tonight.

A win in the Vanarama National League game - which has been rearranged after the initial encounter was postponed due to a frosty pitch two weeks ago - could lift the Iron out of the bottom four on goal difference.

They drew 1-1 at Gateshead on Saturday and being outside the relegation zone heading into the busy Christmas spell would be a boost for manager Hakan Hayrettin and his players.

However, the Braintree boss knows his team are continuing the progression they have made since he came in as manager in October.

And he is just looking for the same effort as he has seen in recent weeks rather than making a statement in terms of league placings.

“Since I’ve been here, we’ve won a lot more games than we’ve lost," he said.

“We’re pretty high up in the current form league so there’s no panic here.

“It was a great point at Gateshead and we are learning.

“The boys are raw but they want to learn and they are giving 100 per cent.

“That’s the most important thing and I’m getting that week-in week-out."
