HAKAN Hayrettin says he will be using Braintree Town's friendly match tonight to gauge the strength of his squad and to have a look at some potential new signings.

The Iron have a friendly match at the Ironmongery Direct Stadium against Ryman League division north side AFC Hornchurch tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Manager Hayrettin is still looking at his preferred line-up after just two weeks in the Braintree hotseat and will be looking to build on a promising performance in their 1-1 Vanarama National League draw with York City last weekend.

He said he wanted to use the game tonight to see players who may not have had a chance to shine in his opening three games as boss, but would also be using it to look at potential newcomers.

He said: "We are looking at the game to try to give some boys minutes and also so I can have a look at potential boys who I could bring in.

"We are fortunate that the pitch has been fantastic and I've been given permission to use it.

"As time goes by, we will be playing games like this so we can have a look at people.

"It will build confidence and togetherness because a lot of heart, a lot of brain and a lot of togetherness will help us through."

The game is scheduled to kick-off at 7.45pm at the Ironmongery Direct Stadium and admission is free.
