Braintree Town manager Jamie Day says he may have some injury doubts for today’s Vanarama National League game against Torquay United at the Avanti Stadium.

Braintree will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Barrow AFC when they host Torquay in Bank Holiday Monday action (kick-off 3pm).

“It’s my job to lift them after the defeat at Barrow,” added Day.

“The performance was good and that’s the positive we have to take from it.

“The long journey home won’t have helped, though, and we have a few knocks as well.

“Chez (Isaac) is carrying a knock, Cheeky (Michael Cheek) had to come off and Simeon (Akinola) is carrying a bit of a bad ankle as well.

“So we have a few nursing injuries and have to make sure they’ve looked after themselves as we need to come in fresh and take the positives out of Saturday’s game.

“Cheeky had to come off with his calf and he may be doubtful and Chez took a knock on his knee but soldiered on so he may struggle.

“Sim has a bad ankle, but I think we’ll be able to get away with some strapping for him.

“Hopefully we’ll also have Lee Barnard back, which is a plus, and we may switch one or two around so we can be nice and positive.”
