Braintree Town manager Danny Cowley doesn't want to be rushed into a decision over his future, but he feels football may not afford him the luxury of time as clubs clamour for his services.

The Iron boss and his brother - and assistant manager - Nicky, are men in demand after leading Braintree to third in the Vanarama National League this year and the verge of a play-off final at Wembley.

Danny said he has loved his time so far at Braintree and has great affection for the club and its players and fans, but he is speaking to other clubs to hear offers that may allow him and Nicky to progress their managerial careers.

Lincoln City are the only club confirmed to have made a formal approach to the brothers and they are due to speak to them today, but others have also been showing interest.

That in itself is creating a pressure as Danny knows clubs will want answers quickly and with news of the Lincoln interest leaking out on to social media, there is an added demand being placed on the Cowley siblings.

However, Danny said he would prefer to have the time to make a properly reasoned decision and wanted to be mindful of the effect any decision would have on the Iron.

"Clubs have said they want to meet us, but everyone wants a decision to move forward," said Danny.

"I respect that, but I want to be very respectful of the people at Braintree because of how good they have been to me.

"While it's flattering to have this interest, it will have to be a very very good opportunity and a real footballing offer.

"I'm not financially orientated at all; that's just not what motivates me.

"It would have to be an opportunity that Nicky and I felt we could really add value to.

"It would be nice to be given time to make a decision, but I know that's not what football is like.

"We'll just have to make the best decision that we can, but I do want to be respectful of Braintree as the people there have been so good to us."
