Danny Cowley feels his Braintree Town squad are in good shape ahead of the Vanarama National League play-offs.

With only a small squad, the Iron have struggled at times this season when injuries have struck, but boss Cowley is glad that he has the strength they will need if they are to get to the final at Wembley on May 15.

They face away and home semi-finals against Grimsby in the next few days and on the back of four straight wins, Braintree will take some strong form into those games.

“I think we’re taking good form in and we’re in a good place,” said Cowley.

“We’re probably as strong as we have been in terms of the size of the squad.

“We’ve managed to get some key players back fit and that has been very important because at times we’ve been down to bare bones.

“It hasn’t mattered as whoever has come in has played with a real determination but we’re pleased to have everyone back.

“We’ll dust ourselves down and enjoy it, which is important.

“We’re just non-league boys and we’ve just finished third in the whole of non-league football, but we will have a steely determination going forward.

“Don’t worry about that – none of us like losing.

“As a group, we don’t know how to lose so we’ll be prepared to give it our all and give a really good show of ourselves.”
