Danny Cowley was glad that his Braintree Town team came through their game at Barrow unscathed in terms of fresh injuries, although Kenny Davis was suffering with the effects of the viral illness that has gone through the team in the last couple of weeks.

“The illness has come at a tough time, there’s no doubt about that,” Cowley said. “But we’ve been relatively lucky all season.

“We’ve had two periods when we’ve picked up a few injuries and in a 16 or 17-man squad a couple of injuries can be a crisis.

“We don’t have the finances of bigger clubs and that’s why what we have done on a shoestring budget and limited resources has been incredible.”

Cowley said he hoped that the illness had worked its way out of the group now, but Anthony Edgar was suffering after the trip to Barrow and may be a doubt for the visit of Forest Green Rovers in Vanarama National League today.
