Cressing Social Club have been crowned the Braintree Open Darts League’s Knockout Cup champions, while Braintree Football Club secured the Knockout Plate honours.

The Cup final saw Cressing facing the Retreat in the final and the early advantage went to Cressing as Mick Cain secured a 2-1 win against Dave Benfield.

The Retreat’s Peter Hinkson levelled the scores with a 2-1 win over Shane Smith in the second game, but a 3-0 win for Andy Holland in the third against Wayne Goodwin had Cressing back in front.

Andy Camp’s 3-0 win over Tony Bamsey followed by a 2-1 win for Simon Twin against Cressing’s Bryan Willis saw the Retreat take a one-leg advantage into the final two games.

However, Peter Hayden’s 2-1 win against Dave Saunders made sure that it was all-square going into the final game of the night.

That saw Cressing’s Richard Pryke against Steve O’Neil and with a 2-1 win for Pryke, Cressing were crowned as Knockout Cup winners.

The Knockout Plate final had Braintree Football Club against the Eagle B.

A 2-1 win for Matt Baker over Ash Gibson followed by 2-1 wins for Colin Dowsett and Andy Slade in the next two games put the Football Club three legs ahead going into the fourth game.

However, a 2-1 win for Andrew Smith over Tom Roberts and a 3-0 win for Alex Chandler, that included a 146 out shot, against Lynn Kelly put the Eagle in front by one leg.

The Football Club’s Alan Dewar’s 2-1 win against Chris Cook meant this match was also level going into the last game, though.

On this occasion, a 3-0 win for Phil Holmes against the Eagle’s Allan Abbott wrapped up the silverware.
