Braintree Town manager Danny Cowley knows he will have to keep a close eye on how he uses Jordan Chiedozie during his loan spell with the Iron.
The 21-year-old made an instant impact as he scored on his first appearance since joining on a loan deal from Cambridge United as Braintree won 2-1 at Bromley, but he was subsitituted after 60 minutes.
However, Cowley knows the energetic forward well after having Chiedozie on loan while Concord Rangers boss last year so knows how to get the best out of him and said he was conscious of not over-playing the striker.
“He offers a different dimension up front,” said Cowley.
“He is different from our other forwards with the movement he has and he will get better as he gets fitter.
“However, we have to manage him in the right way.
“Jordan is a race horse and we have to look after his body in the right way.
“He makes such high intensity runs and has a tendency to run himself out so we have to make sure we manage that in games and make sure he trains intelligently as well.
“We know that and I think that’s why he found success with us at Concord.
“It was always the plan to give him 60 minutes at Bromley, even though we didn’t really want to take him off then.
“However, those types of players who make those high intensity runs tend to fatigue and if you play them into or beyond fatigue, that’s when they can get muscle tears and strains so we had to manage him intelligently.”
