Charlie Strutton will continue his injury comeback with another run-out for Braintree Town Reserves.

The Iron striker scored as he played 45 minutes for the reserves in their 3-2 Thurlow Nunn League division one win at Stowmarket Town.

He is now set to step up his recovery from ankle surgery with another game for the reserves when they host Team Bury on Saturday and Iron boss Danny Cowley said he expects him to play 60 minutes this time.

Cowley said he will then look to arrange a loan deal for Strutton to step his recovery up even further.

“We’re doing everything we can to get Charlie back on the pitch,” he said.

“However, it will take time.

“The problem is if we rush him back with no background, he’ll just break down again so we have to take a long-term view.

"There are a lot of questions that have to be asked because he still has a long way to go, but I know that if we can get Charlie back on the pitch by the beginning of October, I’d expect him, if he’s fit, to score us 15 goals.”
