Braintree Cricket Club captain Will Jackson says his team aren’t feeling the heat as the race to join the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship’s top flight hots up.

With just four games to go, Braintree are lying second in the division two table after their 40-run win against fourth-placed Haverhill last weekend and they know that four more wins will definitely see them up.

Copford are the current leaders, 12 points above Braintree, and hold the cards in the race for the title, but with two teams going up, Jackson feels his players aren’t feeling the strain ahead of Saturday’s trip to Ipswich.

He said: “It doesn’t feel as if we’re under any pressure as we are in control and the boys aren’t playing as if there is a weight on them.

“Copford know if they win all their games then they win the league, but they have a big one coming up against Easton (on August 29) and while I’m sure they are pretty relaxed about getting promoted, they’re probably feeling the pressure more in terms of the title race.

“For us, it’s just a four-game season."
