Braintree Formula One British sidecar driver Kevin Cable and his passenger Andrew Taylor returned to action at round six of the British Sidecar Championship at Brands Hatch.
This was an unusual round as the British competitors were racing along side teams from the World Championship.
It was a track that both Cable and Taylor, who is from Frodsham in Cheshire, know well and they qualified 21st on the grid for the race.
A good start saw them mixing it with some of the World sidecars teams and they moved into 18th place, however, on lap four, Cable started having severe cramp in one of his legs which prevented him from being able to change gear.
As a result, he had to pull into the pit lane and retire from the race.
He said: “I couldn’t operate the bike safely and the cramp wasn’t going away.
“The bike was working really well and I’m so disappointed for Andrew as we were going well.”
The result kept Cable and Taylor 21st place in the British Championship standings ahead of the next round at Thruxton in two weeks.
