Jesse Trayler secured his best finish of the season with a second place at round seven of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Brands Hatch.

The racer from Great Dunmow had an outstanding qualifying session on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit, placing his MSS Colchester Kawasaki ZX-10R fifth on the grid with a one minute 28.6 second lap.

He was hoping to build on his success of the two previous rounds, where he had secured top ten finishes and quickly made up places when the race started.

He passed Luke Quigley to move up into fourth place and overtaking Hudson Kennaugh saw Trayler up into the top three at the end of the third lap.

He pressed up towards the leading duo by lap 15, but fortune swung his way on the final lap of the 16.

Second-placed Joshua Elliott made a bid for the lead at the last bend but his bike went from under him and as he slid off into the gravel, Trayler was moved up into second, which was where he crossed the line.

It was Trayler’s first podium finish of the season and he is now placed fifth in the championship standings. He will be in action again on the fast Thruxton circuit on the August 2.
