Adam Gilbert romped home to his first class win at national level as the Braintree Bullets BMX Club member rode in rounds five and six of the British BMX Series at Cumbernauld in Scotland.

Riding in the ten-year-old boys’ class, Gilbert looked comfortable on the track all weekend and after battling to a fourth place on day one, he won all his races on the way to leading from the front in the final and taking a debut British Series victory.

The youngest Bullet on track was Freia Challis in the seven to eight girls where she continued her successful start to the season with a third spot on day one.

Seb Pantlin had taken a win at the previous stop of the series and had taken great confidence from that in the 11 years.

Pantlin put in a dominant display across the weekend, only dropping one lap win on his way to his first maximum points haul and he now leads the national points standings.

The 14s had some up and down results for the top Bullets riders as Ollie Rowe shook off a crash in practice to take second place on day one.

Club-mate Charlie O’Grady made the finals on both days, whiel Shane Redgewell was in the action in the 16s and finished fourth on day one and eighth on day two.

Kelsey Dixon and Lana Redgewell kept things flowing in the Championship women’s class, with Dixon taking second in the B finals.

The hugely competitive 17 to 24s class saw 16-year-old Josh Butson prove his mettle among the older riders on his way to the A finals both days.

Butson, who had been suffering with a knee injury, shrugged off the problem to take to a fine fourth and a sixth, while in the Veterans’ class, Julian Allen enjoyed season’s best finishes with a third and a fourth in the A finals.

Shane Redgewell had begun the points haul for Braintree Bullets in the 15 to 16 years cruiser class as he went unbeaten all weekend.

Oli Cutmore rode with his usual finesse in the 17 to 29s and his smooth style took him to his first full score of the year as he took two wins.
