Alex Lynn says he won’t get caught up in the glitz and glamour of Monaco as he heads to the land of motor racing dreams in the GP2 Series this weekend.

The 21-year-old from Dunmow will be in Monaco looking to build on his debut GP2 win in Spain two weeks ago, that took him to fifth in the early series standings, and on his successful test session for the Williams Martini Racing Formula One team last week.

However, he knows he will have to ignore the off-track distractions of one of the world’s most glamorous locations to continue his rise in GP2 with the DAMS Racing team and keep his dream of a move into F1 moving closer to fruition.

The tight, twisting Monte Carlo street circuit is an iconic one in racing and even though it will be similar to the one in the Far East where Lynn won the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 2013, he expects this GP2 challenge to be a big one.

Lynn said: “Racing in Monaco is what dreams are made of, but my eye is firmly on the job I need to do and putting in a good performance.

“If I put in the hard work then I know I can get some good performances around the circuit.

“It’s certainly one that DAMS have done well at in the past but then they are strong at every circuit.

“Jolyon Palmer and Stéphane Richelmi won both races there last year for DAMS so it will be down to me to get to grips with the circuit.

“In some ways it will be similar to Macau as that was a tight city circuit, but now I’m in a GP2 car.

“The difference is 650 horsepower compared to 220 that I had in Macau and it’s so much faster.”
