Witham Town saw two invaluable Ryman League premier division points taken from their grasp as Bognor Regis Town staged a second-half comeback at the Village Glass Stadium.

It was Witham's 3,000th first-team game since the club reformed after the Second World War, but it couldn't bring a win as the hosts were held to a 2-2 draw.

Garry Kimble's men know every point they can pick up may be crucial in their battle to avoid relegation from the premier division this year.

They started the day in the bottom four so were delighted to build a 2-0 lead before the break.

Goals from Lewis Godbold in the 12th and 24th minutes put Witham in charge at half-time and looking to end a run of three defeats with a three-point haul.

However, visitors Bognor came back after the interval and made sure Witham took just a point from the game.

It wasn't a last-gasp goal that hit Witham this time, though, as an own goal halved the deficit in the 73rd minute, before Terry Dodd earned the south-coast side a share of the spoils with 78 minutes on the clock.

And that was the way it stayed as Kimble's men had to be satisfied with just a point.
