The first silverware of the season in the North Essex Invitational Charity Darts League was awarded when Tomo’s B claimed the Knockout Cup with an 8-4 win in their final against the George.
In a game played at the Three Pigeons, the George took an early lead when Gerry Williams beat Tomo’s captain Steve Hills 2-1.
Lewis Dyson levelled up the match with a 2-0 win over Will Burrows, before Mick Crowe restored the George’s advantage with a close-fought win over Kerry Rudd, before Matt Rudd then came from behind to beat Paul Blake 2-1.
Blake hit a 180 but Rudd held on to check out 68 for the match.
Wins for Charly Hutchinson, Sam Benson and Steve Hills then made the game 5-2 to Tomo’s, in the first to eight contest.
Dyson again beat Burrows, Hills lost to Williams again and Blake beat Matt Rudd to leave the game at 6-4, before Dyson beat Crowe and Kerry Rudd beat Lynn McGrath 2-0 to secure the cup for Tomo’s B.
