Witham Hockey Club men’s seconds have confirmed their promotion to East League division three south east.
Their 3-2 win against Wapping fifths coupled with a defeat for third-placed Old Southendians means Witham can’t finish outside the top two in division four south east this season.
Defender Tony Tredgett, who was man-of-the-match against Wapping, said: “To secure promotion and remain unbeaten with three games still to play is a fantastic achievement and a tribute to every player who has represented the second team this season.
“We have a great squad with a team-first attitude and with our first goal achieved, we can now look to push on and deliver the title and an unbeaten season.
“I am confident we can do it.”
