Braintree Rugby Club joint coach Brian Joslin is sure that they will turn around their disappointing start to the season.

A 17-13 defeat by Essex rivals Basildon was the Black and Ambers’ fourth in a row and left them still looking for their first win of the campaign.

Selection problems that have plagued the early part of the season were present again as Braintree lost a game they had high hopes of winning, but Joslin is confident that they can turn the corner soon, starting with a home game against Rochford Hundred on Saturday.

He said: “It was disappointing once again to have to field a side that was quite different to the one chosen at selection on Thursday due to injuries and people dropping out.

“We need all the bodies we can get at the moment as nothing is going for us but the lads who took to the field gave their all and we weren’t far off at the final whistle.

“Nobody likes to start the season with four straight defeats but we will turn this round.

“Our confidence is lacking at the moment but I’m sure that first win will get us up and running.”

Joslin’s men face another daunting task at Robbs Wood on Saturday when they entertain another south Essex side in the shape of Rochford Hundred.
