The prospect of wrapping up the 2014 GP3 Series title this weekend won’t give Alex Lynn any sleepless nights.

The 21-year-old racing driver is tantalisingly close to his year’s primary goal of adding another important piece of silverware to his Dunmow mantlepiece.

Having opened up a dominant gap between himself at the top of the standings and his only serious championship rival, New Zealand’s Richie Stanaway, Lynn heads into the penultimate round of the season at Sochi in Russia knowing a good points haul could wrap up the title.

However, Lynn is a member of the Red Bull Junior Programme and is used to the pressure of performing at the highest level, knowing that winning the series is his year’s only goal as he tries to keep impressing watching Formula One team bosses.

Lynn, who drives in GP3 for the Carlin team, said: “We are in a really good position and I don’t feel there’s any stress on me.

“We have managed to build a nice gap so we’ll just keep doing our own thing as we have up until now.

“I don’t even feel that the prospect of winning the championship is adding any extra pressure.

“Since December last year I have known that winning the GP3 championship is the end product of what I have to do."

GP3 qualifying will take place in Sochi at 6.30am (British time) on Saturday, with race one following at 10.40am and race two will be on Sunday at 8am.
