Braintree Rugby Club will be hoping for better things when they kick off their 2014/15 campaign at Robbs Wood tomorrow.

Only a win against Lowestoft and Yarmouth in the final game ensured their London League division two north east survival last season.

And joint coaches Gary Coote, Brian Joslin and Darren Page will be hoping for a much improved showing this season, which kicks off with the visit of Norfolk side Holt.

The two sides always enjoy close encounters, but the Black and Ambers will be desperate to secure all the points from their first fixture.

This season sees versatile back row Tom Carslake taking over as skipper from the popular John Smillie and the introduction of some new coaching expertise behind the scenes.

Former Colchester coach Dave Locke, an RFU coach educator, and minis and youth coach Jamie Clarke with assist the coaching and management team in a bid to get Braintree up and running from the off.
