Braintree Town manger Alan Devonshire admits he may make changes for their Vanarama Conference Premier trip to Welling United tonight after the exertions of their game against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Iron boss said he felt this team’s performance in their 2-0 win at the weekend was their best for some time, but felt it may have taken its toll and is likely to use his squad as they look to extend their winning run to four games.

Devonshire said: “It’s been a good start for us, but we have to make sure we keep it going.

“We have to make sure we now get a result on Tuesday.

“We’ve had three on the bounce but we have to move up on it now at Welling.

“It will be tough and we know that.

“There will be some tired legs so I might have to change it if I have enough players but we’ll have to wait and see.”

The game against Bristol Rovers saw Braintree keep a third clean sheet in a row and Devonshire said it was likely to be at the forward end of the pitch that he looked to alter things.

“I’ve been rotating it up front and I’ll probably keep doing that,” he added.

“It probably won’t be the same two up top at Welling as some of them have taken whacks, but we’ll have to see how they are ahead of the game.

“We have Painey (Matt Paine) out, Marksey (Sean Marks) isn’t fit and he’ll be out for about three weeks so there are some important players out at the moment.

“I still feel there’s more to come and I’d like to think that’s the case, so we’ll see.”

Dan Sparkes is one of those who may be a doubt after taking a blow to his ankle on Saturday that meant he had to be substituted in the second half.
