Witham Cricket Club captain Leroy facey feels his team need to find consistency in their performances in the second half of their season to make sure they don’t end up with their backs against the wall at the end of the campaign.

Last weekend proved frustrating for Facey’s team as their game against Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one leaders Frinton fell victim to the wet weather and had to be abandoned.

That fixture marked the mid-point of their season and Witham, who are currently fifth from bottom in the table head into the second half looking to improve on an up and down opening part of the year.

Facey admitted that consistency in their performances has been a problem so far, with strong displays like the ones against haverhill and Lakenheath mixed in with under par ones such as the ten-wicket drubbing by Mistley.

The Witham skipper said: “We are fifth from bottom now and if we finished there at the end of the season, you wouldn’t class it as a bad one because this division is much stronger this year.

“However, we know there is plenty of room for improvement.

“I have seen some, but we need more consistency."
