Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is ready to pick his players up after back-to-back disappointments as they continue their quest for the Ryman League division one north title tonight.

Defeats at Needham Market and leaders VCD Athletic have done little to help Witham's push for the title, but they will hope to get that back on track when Aveley visit the Village Glass Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Witham are still unbeaten at home and are sitting second in the table - five points behind VCD with two games in hand - so know the top spot is still there to be had, but Kimble knows he has to lift his troops ahead of another tough run of games.

He said: “We have seven games left now and it’s me as the manager to pick them up after these last two.

“We have to dust ourselves down and go again against Aveley on Tuesday."

Goalkeeper Martyn Guest is an injury doubt for tonight’s game after coming off at half-time at VCD Athletic with a hip problem, while Kris Newby came off with a tight hamstring.

Conor Mead and Dean Green will face fitness tests after injuries, but John Watson may return after an illness.
