Braintree Town defender Dean Wells feels the shoulder injury that saw him miss the second half of their 3-2 defeat by Barrow “could have been worse”.

The Iron centre-half left the pitch in the 28th minute after going down on his shoulder and initial fears were that he had suffered a full dislocation that could keep him sidelined for several months.

However, the 27-year-old was pleased to be told by doctors that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been and he has suffered ligament damage around his left acromio-clavicular (AC) joint.

He told the Times: “It is a slight dislocation, but not as bad as a proper dislocation.

“It could have been worse.”

It is still likely to keep him out for four to six weeks, but Wells is hoping to keep that to the minimum.
