Witham Town boss Garry Kimble wants last year’s sharp shooters to be more ready to “pull the trigger” in front of goal.

Despite beating Ilford 4-0 recently, Witham have been frustrated by defeats at Cheshunt and Tilbury in their last two Ryman League division one north.

Kimble will be hoping for better as they head to Essex neighbours Heybridge Swifts tomorrow and feels they just need more confidence in front of goal.

Witham couldn’t stop scoring on their way to Essex Senior League domination last year, finding the back of the net 117 times in 34 matches, but this season isn’t proving quite so fruitful.

Kimble said: “I haven’t been happy with some of our play in the final third of the pitch as we need to make more of our chances.

“I just want the lads to pull the trigger more and be a bit more ruthless.

“That’s what I keep telling them, but I think they are trying to walk it into the net sometimes.

“Just pull the trigger and see what happens.

“This league is showing us that if you don’t take your chances then you get punished."
