Southend United will be the visitors to Spa Road on Wednesday night when Shrimpers boss Paul Sturrock brings a side to face Witham Town in a friendly encounter.

Witham drew 2-2 with Chelmsford City last week in a friendly at Spa Road and Town boss Garry Kimble said he will use tonight’s game to give his players a run-out.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm at Spa Road.

Town were due to be in Ryman League division one north action at Tilbury last night and Kimble said most players would get 45 minutes against the Shrimpers as they face two games in 24 hours.

Kimble said: “We’re focused on the three points from the Tilbury game, but the game against Southend will give me a good chance to give people a run out if they need match time.”

The Witham boss said he had no fresh injury concerns after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Cheshunt.
