The “feelgood factor” is back at Witham Town.

Following four back-to-back defeats, Garry Kimble’s team bounced back into the Ryman League division one north’s top six with a 4-0 hammering of Ilford.

The Town boss was delighted with his team’s response to their dip in form and said they are buoyant ahead of Saturday’s trip to Cheshunt.

He said: “We know it will be tough at Cheshunt, but the feelgood factor is back at the club.

“Everyone has been a bit more perky and buzzing and people were certainly happier than after the previous game.

“It was good to get back to winning ways.

“I mixed it up a bit as I felt I needed to freshen it up and I was pleased with how it went.

“A couple of players came out of the side, but that’s not to say they were dropped as it is about the squad of 16 that we’ve got rather than the 11 who go out.

“Our work-rate, passing and movement were all better and I thought we made Ilford look poor. You can only beat what is in front of you, but we looked good.

“We came out running and you could see the players wanted it.

“I wasn’t judging their commitment before, but everyone came together on Saturday and it was a joy to watch.

“What pleased me as much as the win was that we kept a clean sheet.

“The three points took us up to sixth and I think this was a massive result as it broke the losing run for us.”

Kimble said he has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to Cheshunt and gave some squad players a longer run-out when they drew 2-2 with Chelmsford City in a friendly at Spa Road on Tuesday.
