Braintree Town are likely to see a few changes to their line-up for their Blue Square Bet Premier trip to Mansfield Town.
Having seen his team lose 2-1 at Macclesfield Town on Saturday, manager Alan Devonshire has some injury headaches ahead of the trip to face the Stags.
Skipper Kenny Davis has a shin problem, Brad Quinton has been struggling with an ankle injury, Adam Bailey-Dennis has a foot problem and Danny Sparkes has a sore back and Devonshire said all would
be assessed ahead of the journey north.
Striker Michael Gash won’t be available for the game as his loan spell from Cambridge United has come to an end and he has now headed back to the Abbey Stadium after making six appearances for the
Iron.
Devonshire added that U’s manager Jez George had already said that there would be no opportunity to extend the loan beyond the initial month-long deal.
All four of his injury doubts started in the defeat at Macclesfield, but Devonshire is confident that he has options to make changes, especially after what he saw in their friendly against West
Ham’s development squad on Monday.
The young Hammers were battered 4-0 by Braintree before a floodlight failure brought a premature halt to proceedings.
It gave a chance for Iron players who hadn’t played recently to get valuable match time and Devonshire said he had seen enough from his players to make the changes he may need to.
He said: “I thought everyone did well and that’s what I want as people need to be fighting for places.
“I want them to be making my job harder by giving me choices to make because we sometimes didn’t have those choices last year.”
Meanwhile, Iron striker Kaine Sheppard will return to the club next week following the end of his loan spell at Histon tomorrow.
