Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is hoping his latest signing will be able to play in their FA Trophy preliminary round tie at Crawley Down Gatwick on Saturday.

Town made an early FA Cup exit last weekend as they lost 2-0 at East Thurrock United, but they will head to Ryman League division one south leaders Crawley Down looking to make progress in the Trophy.

Kimble has brought in former AFC Sudbury player Rhys Darg on loan from Leiston ahead of the game and he is hoping that his new addition will be involved.

Kimble said: “To be honest, I don’t know too much about Crawley, but they are top of their league and I know they will be physical and strong, so we have to match that.

“But I’ve got Rhys Darg on a three-month loan from Leiston and I’m hoping he will be available.

“He can play centre, back, central midfield or up front.

“He is a handful and we saw that when we played Leiston in pre-season, so I’m hoping that he will be eligible for the game on Saturday."
