Kimble: we have nothing to fear as FA Cup underdogs
Witham Town manager Garry Kimble insists his team have nothing to fear from facing higher-placed opponents when they get back on the Road to Wembley this weekend.
Town head to Ryman League premier division side East Thurrock United in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday and Kimble says they will head to the south of the county with
confidence.
However, they will travel on the back of back-to-back defeats after their 1-0 Ryman League division one north defeat by Harlow Town.
It was a much better performance than in the 3-0 loss to Waltham Abbey in the previous game, though, with Kimble pleased to see his players back to the standard they had set in the early part of the season.
And they will look for a strong showing against a side playing in the division above them as they look to make progress into the second qualifying round.
Kimble said: “We’ll go to East Thurrock as underdogs, but they haven’t won a game yet and they will be more worried about what we do than we will about what they will do.
“We will go there and play like we normally do with 100 per cent and I have no concerns about us.
“I’m going there to get a result as I know I’ll get £1,500 into my playing budget if we win and that can go a long way.
“We will go there with confidence and I think they will be more afraid of us than we are of them.
“We really have nothing to lose.”
