Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire says he expects to only make two more additions to his squad ahead of the start of the new season.

Having lost three players since the end of the last campaign, the Iron boss has already brought five players to the Amlin Stadium and thinks seven will conclude his summer business.

Devonshire has been running his eye over a number of triallists during the team’s pre-season, with some being released without offers of deals.

Some still remain, though, including former Maidenhead winger Jerome Walker, ex-Northampton Town midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn, West Ham Academy product Chase O’Neil and former FC United and Galway United striker Joe Yoffe.

But Devonshire doesn’t expect all to be staying.

He said: “I’m looking for individual performances, the fitness of players and probably more at what they do when we haven’t got the ball. I know what they can do when we have got the ball.

“I think one or two will be in before the start of the season.

“Two will probably be the most that we get in.

“But we won’t get people in just for the sake of it. They have to be in the right areas.”
