Rod Stringer has admitted he is unsure whether Braintree Town could afford to sign highly-rated striker Ollie Mann.

The 21-year-old Brantham Athletic hotshot has been linked with host of clubs, including newly-promoted Iron.

A number of Football League clubs have also been keeping tabs on the striker, who hit 43 goals in 37 league and cup games this season.

Dagenham and Redbridge manager John Still and scout Mick Loughton both watched Mann play in Brantham’s recent 2-1 at home to Great Yarmouth.

However, Mann still has a year remaining on his deal with Brantham.

And boss Stringer suspects Braintree may not be able to meet any potential asking price required for the striker.

Stringer said: “I don’t think Braintree can afford the kind of fee they’re asking, if he’s under contract.”
