Chairman Lee Harding is pleased with the progress Braintree Town are making - both on and off the field.

Iron head to Woking tomorrow lying in second place in Blue Square Bet South, following an impressive start to the season.

And they have been prudent off the field too, ensuring that they do not fall into the same trap as some of their Conference South rivals who have spent beyond their means.

Harding told the Times: “This is our fourth season at this level now.

“There was a lot of talk pre-season and that we could be relegation fodder.

“But the big thing that helps is that we are always true to our word and we have a reputation for being stable.

“Looking at the league table, we doing OK.

“We’re delighted with the progress that we’re making and the cup win doesn’t do us any harm."
