New Braintree Town manager Rod Stringer cannot wait to get stuck into his new role.

And the newly-appointed Iron boss is wasting no time in planning for next season, after slapping in offers for several players.

Stringer has taken the hot seat at Cressing Road, after qutting his role as manager of Aveley, whom he led to an impressive third-place finish in the Ryman Premier this season.

He will be assisted at Braintree by former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers defender Keith Rowland, whom he worked with at the Millers.

And long-serving Iron midfielder Brad Quinton will also be on the new-look coaching team as player-coach.

However Eddie Crace, who worked alongside Stringer and Rowland at Aveley, was unable to accept a coaching role because of his work commitments.

Stringer told the Times: “I have come up through almost every step of non-league football and I’d like to think that I served my apprenticeship.

“We will give it our best shot – Braintree is a good club with a great background and we’re ambitious to do well."
