Winger Martin is out to impress for Iron

Winger Robbie Martin will be handed the chance to earn a longer deal with Braintree Town.

The attacking midfielder, pictured right, has returned to Cressing Road after leaving Iron’s Blue Square South rivals, Havant and Waterlooville.

The 25-year-old played a major part in helping Iron win promotion from the Ryman League under George Borg, in 2006.

Martin has now returned to Braintree and boss Robbie Garvey is hoping he can make a similar impression, between now and the end of the season.

Garvey is pleased with the signing and said there is a chance Martin’s stay at Iron could be extended beyond this summer, should he impress.

Garvey told the Times: “We’ve been short on the right-side for a while.

“Matt Game has done a fantastic job there for us, as he does anywhere.

“But Robbie is an out-and-out winger who can get past people."
