Witham grasstrack racer Sam Radley-Smith will compete for Great Britain later this month.
The talented 14-year-old from Wickham Bishops, who is a student at Maltings Academy in Spinks Lane, Witham, has enjoyed a successful season on his 250cc JRE Jawa.
Now he is preparing to put his talents to the test in the FIM Gold Cup in Tayac, France, on his 125cc Honda grasstrack bike.
The final will be held in England and Radley-Smith has been invited to compete in the 250cc class.
He has enjoyed a good run of late, having been placed on the podium at every race meeting after being assisted by James Rogers Engineering.
Sam competed in Dorset recently and beat top rider Ollie Greenwood, who had been unbeaten this season In Europe, the youth class is restricted to 125cc bikes, although next year the Auto Cycle Union will be also running a 250cc class over six meetings.
Racing is in Radley-Smith’s blood – his grandad and mum used to race a 500cc sidecar.
Radley-Smith’s uncle Nick Radley and daughter Abi also race 500cc sidecars.
Radley-Smith and his family are looking for around ten acres of grass land to rent in order to hold Youth meetings three times a year in the Essex area.
Radley-Smith, who will compete next month at meetings in Latchendon, near Maldon and High Easter, is looking for sponsorship to help him stay in the sport and compete in Europe.
