Wayne O’Sullivan is to be disciplined by Braintree following his red card against Kingstonian.
The 23-year-old former Arsenal trainee was given his marching orders in the Iron’s 4-0 FA Cup defeat.
O’Sullivan was sent off just before the half hour mark for serious foul play, following a challenge on Kingstonian’s Dean Lodge.
It left Braintree with a mountain to climb and they eventually succumbed to a heavy defeat, in the second qualifying round tie.
Manager Lee Patterson said: “We will lose Wayne to suspension now and that doesn’t help anyone.
“I had a bit of a pop at Wayne for not tracking his runner and the next minute, he went straight through their player.
“I can’t argue with it being a red card and he’ll be dealt with internally.
“He needs to curb his frustration because it was a big factor in us being knocked out of the FA Cup.
“He knows that he has let us down but we will stick with him.”
Patterson has vowed to ring the changes, ahead of the Iron’s trip to play Blue Square South leaders Hayes and Yeading on Saturday.
Braintree are set to welcome back key players Billy Burgess, Ryan Moran, Mark Jones and Micky Shinn, after they missed the FA Cup defeat.
New signing Danny Hockton is in line to start his first game for the Iron, following his four-figure move from Blue Square South rivals Bromley.
The 28-year-old, who spent eight years at Millwall where he made 35 League appearances, has also had spells at Stevenage Borough, Dover, Crawley and Billericay.
He will link-up again with striker Gareth Williams, with whom he enjoyed a prolific partnership at Bromley last season.
“Danny will give us something different,” added Patterson. “I hope he is a player that will score lots of goals for us.”
