BEN Killip knows that Braintree Town’s fortune have to change for the better soon.

Lady Luck has continued to turn her gaze away from the Iron in the early part of the Vanarama National League season and Tuesday’s defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge has left them bottom of the table and still looking for their first win.

They will hope to gain that against third-placed Wrexham at home on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and Killip hopes it will be the time that fortune turns in their favour.

The 22-year-old keeper knows that teams haven’t been playing them off the park so far and that they haven’t been far away from getting the right side of the fine line between success and failure.

So he hopes that things will switch for them soon and there will be no repeat of the tough run he went on while at Grimsby Town last season.

“I went 21 games (without a win) at Grimsby last year so that was tough and I’m certainly hoping that it’s not that way this year,” said Killip.

“The boys just have to dig in and stick together.

“I know it’s clichéd but it is what it is and we just have to get our heads down and get through it.

“It was a tough one to take at Dagenham.

“Dagenham were in the same boat as us at the start with not having won a game and it was an opportunity for us.

“So it was a shame that it went against us and we just have to pick ourselves up again and go against Wrexham on Saturday.

“Things just aren’t falling our way at the moment, but it will change.

“There’s only so long that the luck can go against you.

“There will come a time when we get three or four wins in a row where balls are dropping for us rather than other people and decisions are going our way.

“Things will come; we just have to be patient and keep believing because we are good enough to be at this level.

“We know we are.

“We’ve definitely got enough to stay up in this league, but we just have to believe that.

“I think that’s the problem at the moment as maybe we’re not believing as much as we ned to that we are good enough.

“We are good enough and we’ve shown that in performances if not the results.

“It’s just a case of getting one win and I think it will snowball from there and we’ll kick on and do well for the season."
