Braintree Town manager Brad Quinton was delighted with the impact made by his four new additions as a rejuvenated Iron secured an impressive draw at Boreham Wood.

They are still without a Vanarama National League win this season, but after defeats in their previous two outings, a point on the road was very welcome as the game ended 1-1.

Braintree had to come from behind to get their draw after Jamal Fyfield put the hosts ahead in the first half, but a fiercely driven free-kick from Mohamed Bettamer just after the break was enough for earn the visitors a point.

Quinton said: “I was very pleased with our performance in the second half as I thought we were on the front foot and got the ball down really well.

“We put them under pressure a lot more so we could have got the three points at the end but with the luck that we are having at the minute, I’ll take a point.

“We were positive all over the park.”

It was a much-changed Braintree side from the one that started their previous game – a 2-0 defeat by Maidenhead United – and among the six changes made by Quinton were a quartet of new signings.

All four had joined at training ahead of the trip to Boreham Wood and Quinton was impressed with how all of them rose to the challenge just days after signing on.

“I thought they were superb,” he said.

“Working with them on Thursday in the short time that we have together, it’s credit to the boys with the way they listened and the effort they put in at Boreham Wood.

“Mo (Sagaf) in midfield was probably my man-of-the-match and Dave Nieskens was a rock at the back.

“I was disappointed how we gave away the goal, but Cameron (James) was excellent at the back as well and Justin (Amazulor), up front, was pulling their centre halves all over the place.

“They weren’t comfortable with him so, overall, we’re looking good and there were lots of positives for us.”
