Braintree Town could have four new faces in their squad when they head to Boreham Wood for their Vanarama National League clash on Saturday.

As he promised after their 2-0 defeat by Maidenhead United on Monday, Iron manager Brad Quinton has acted to freshen up his squad by bringing in a quartet of new signings.

Two are central defenders, with Cameron James coming in on a half-season loan from Braintree's League Two neighbours Colchester and Dutch centre-half Dave Nieskens has also joined.

James, who is 20, can also play in midfield as well as in the back line and came through the U's renowned Academy before making his senior debut in 2016 and going on to make a further 14 first-team appearances so far.

Nieskens, meanwhile, is a 24-year-old central defender who joins Braintree having spent last season at fellow National League side Barrow.

He made eight appearances for the Bluebirds before a knee injury in a game at Tranmere Rovers cut his season short and he has come to Braintree after a full recovery following surgery and rebuilding his fitness over the summer.

Options at the other end of the pitch have also been strengthened by Quinton.

Justin Amaluzor is a 21-year-old forward who started his career at Luton before joining Barnet in April 2015.

He played 28 games in the Football League for the Harrow-based club before leaving in the summer and has also had spells on loan at Hemel Hempstead, Hampton and Richmond and Bognor.

The fourth of the new quartet is 20-year-old midfielder Mohammed Sagaf, who has joined after spells with Leatherhead and Walthamstow.

Sagaf has impressed in training with the Braintree squad over recent sessions and signed registration forms on Thursday night.
