Brad Quinton said he will be bringing in some more experienced faces this week to boost Braintree Town’s hopes of staying in the Vanarama National League.

The Iron have endured a tough start to life back in the top flight and a 2-0 defeat by Maidenhead United on Bank Holiday Monday left them still winless in the league this season.

After seven games, though, Quinton feels it is the right time to ring some changes and said he expected to be signing some new players at training on Thursday.

And he hoped they would come straight into his side for their trip to Boreham Wood on Saturday.

He said: “We had a few players at the game against Maidenhead who we'll be looking to bring in this week.

"We'll be looking to get that done at training on Thursday and they'll then be in the squad for next Saturday (at Boreham Wood).

"There are a few of the guys who we've given enough chances to now and we need to make changes.

"We need some more experienced boys who have played the game and that's something we're looking to bring in.

"I think there are three or four areas we need to look at.

"We need to be stronger mentally and try to be organised.

"Some of the lads we're looking to bring in have played at this level and some just know what I want them to do and that's something we're looking for this week.”
