BRAD Quinton felt his Braintree Town team deserved at least a point from their Vanarama National League trip to Barrow.

The Iron returned from Cumbria sat second from bottom in the table and still looking for their first league win of the season after the Bluebirds secured a 1-0 win thanks to John Rooney's sixth-minute goal.

However, Quinton, who had been left fuming with his players' game management in their previous outing - that saw them lose 4-3 to Havant and Waterlooville - was happier with their display in Cumbria.

"I think we could have got something from it," said the Iron boss.

"I was speaking to some of the Barrow fans afterwards and they said we were the best team they'd played at their ground and I felt we were the better team in the second half.

"We should have got a point at least and should have possibly won the game if I'm being honest.

"But it's hard being where we are at this moment in time and a lack of concentration early on in the first half has cost us.

"I was pleased with how the players responded to that, though.

"They were organised and looked like a team that wanted to go and score a goal so I was pleased with that."

Quinton felt the difference between the two sides at Barrow was the composure shown by the hosts in front of goal so they made their chance count when it came along.

He added: "The main thing we're missing at the moment is a bit of experience to be able to communicate the game in front of us.

"We had midfielders caught the wrong side of the ball for their goal when the ball was pulled across the face of our box and he (John Rooney) has passed the ball in really.

"That was disappointing because we had the ball in their final third before that and they broke on us.

"I was disappointed with that, but once we get our first win then we'll be a team who people won't want to play.

"It's hard when you're down there, though, because you're fighting everything.

"You saw composure from them in the first half but we didn't have it when we had chances."
