Manager Brad Quinton wants his young group Braintree Town players to stay positive despite their tough start to the Vanarama National League season.

The Iron will welcome back former manager Alan Devonshire and his Maidenhead United side to Cressing Road today (kick-off 3pm) for a Bank Holiday fixture with the hosts still looking for a first win of the campaign.

They were left second from bottom in the table after a 1-0 defeat at Barrow on Saturday while Maidenhead were picking up their first three-point haul after finding a late winner against Maidstone United.

But Quinton was happy with much of his side's performance in Cumbria and wants them to stay positive.

"I'm looking forward to it on Monday as we'll be back on our own turf," he said.

"Maidenhead got a late winner in their game (against Maidstone United) on Saturday so fair play to them, but I was pleased with our lads in the second half at Barrow.

"I was just disappointed in the first five or six minutes.

"Some of them are learning but we just have to stay positive.

"I was happy with some of the football we played and how we created chances."

Quinton said he had no injury concerns after the trip to Barrow, but added, with the quick turnaround from Saturday to Monday, that he would look to freshen things up if needed.
