THE Braintree Club Sweep at Notley on Friday was fished in very hot conditions and the carp were cruising just under the surface and not too interested in feeding.

In the event, Bob Reed managed to tempt three and a few F1s to record yet another win with final figures of 21-4-0.

Jim Loosley had three late small carp in the margins to push him into second spot with 18-8-0.

The conditions on Sunday were completely different, starting in wind and rain and cooler temperatures and with fish being caught from the start.

Bob Cheesman fished a long line to catch one carp and F1s, but switched to the margins later and landed a succession of carp to set a new six-hour record on the lake with a total weight of 80-7-0.

Loosley started well, but then had a dead spell mid-match, before the carp returned and he also beat the old record by weighing 59-12-0.

On Sunday, the Braintree Club are holding the Pole Trophy on the middle lake at Rayne Lodge.

Book with Pete Thompson if you want to fish.

Next Saturday the Bill's Tackle team are fishing the semi-final of the Supercup competition at Gold Valley Lakes.

A top-five place will see them into the final once again.
