A SMALL squad of 15 athletes from Braintree Shotokan Karate Club rose to a global challenge when they attended the WUKF World Championships in Dundee.
More than 2,500 competitors from 84 federations from across the world were competing and it was a massive achievement from a small local club as the Braintree team brought home nine medals between them.
Caleb Gilbert, Finley Jordan and sister Gracie Jordan all claimed gold to become world champions in their age groups, with Ethan Meader taking bronze in his age group and the remaining medals being won in team Kumite.
