MARATHON man Steve Hambling spent 11 hours on the Braintree Golf Club course last week and raised almost £1,000 for a good cause in the process.
After teeing off at 4.10am and sponsored by Edmonsons Electrical, the club’s assistant professional completed 100 holes but had to give up around 3pm when he sustained a leg injury.
Nevertheless, he raised £976 for the club’s Jim Bamforth Bursary Fund, which aids juniors at the club.
Braintree has a thriving junior section with 69 youngsters paying just £25 membership and £1 per lesson.
